…what has happened in the last few weeks isn’t believe to be related to Freddie Cheeses complications at birth. In his 5.5 month review he was developmentally ‘ahead of his peers’ according to his consultant. He also had an MRI at Christmas following his abnormal one at birth, the results showed that he had ‘a structurally perfect brain’. This was a huge improvement on the shadows and blood present at birth. It was made clear, at that time, that a structurally perfect brain doesn’t necessarily mean it functions perfectly, and visa versa. For Cheese though, it was good news. All the signs were positive. As parents, we relaxed.
Another thing is that the spasms/seizures are a secondary condition. Whatever the new shadows are on his brain, along with his lumbar puncture results, indicate there is a more serious rare underlying condition. We are still waiting for all his results, it could still be up to 6 weeks. It’s going to be a long summer!

That’s what Doctor Campbell said when I burst into tears in neonatal and asked if it was my fault ‘It’s just one of those things’ he said. Doctor Cackett said exactly the same two weeks ago when I asked why this has happened now. I’m not sure why people say that, well… I do know, because they can’t explain and they don’t know why. I also know it’s not comforting to hear.
